Is 45°, 45°, 45° a good resin-printing orientation?

It is a useful starting preset—not a universal ideal. Apply 45° on X, Y, and Z, then check suction, drainage, islands, support contacts, and cross-sectional area in the resin slicer.

What the preset does

The proposed NEST preset applies 45° around X, Y, and Z to every copy. It is fast, repeatable, and useful for comparing a tilted resin layout with the original model orientation.

What it cannot decide

• Whether a cavity creates suction
• Whether resin can drain
• Where unsupported islands appear
• Which surfaces may accept support marks
• How large each cured layer becomes

Formlabs specifically warns that hollow models and concave surfaces can create suction-cup problems depending on orientation.
